5 Favorite Pieces from the New “Entertainment Nation” Exhibition

Last week, a new permanent exhibition opened at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

Here are our five favorite objects on view:

1. Joe Louis’ gloves from his 1938 victory over a Nazi icon

2. Orson Welles’ typewriter. Writing is the foundation of entertainment after all.

3. R2D2 and C3PO. The iconic characters from the blockbuster Star Wars movies.

4. Dorothy’s ruby slippers. After the #KeepThemRuby Kickstarter campaign, the colorful slippers are once again on display.

5. “His Master’s Voice” stained glass. Nipper, the RCA’s mascot is immortalized in this glass version of the famous advertisement.

You can see all these items and more from the worlds of music, movies, stage, and sports in the Entertainment Nation exhibition.

This colorful exhibition is open on the 3rd floor, west side of the American History Museum on the Mall in Washington D.C.

Open 10 am-5:30 pm every day (except Christmas)
