3 Places to Find Flags at the American History Museum

Today is Flag Day, the day we celebrate and remember the stars and stripes being adopted as our nation’s flag. Since then, it’s become a symbol of patriotism and freedom worldwide.

In honor of Flag Day, here are three places you can see flags on display at the American History Museum.

1) Flag Hall

The National Mall entrance on the 2nd floor takes you right into the flag hall, where an art piece representing the stars and stripes hangs above the entrance to the Star Spangled Banner. It’s a popular photo spot and an eye-catching entrance to the museum.

2) The Star Spangled Banner

If you come from the Mall entrance, the Star Spangled Banner exhibit is the first one you see. Inside the dim room, you can view the original flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write our national anthem.

3) State Flags

Around the promenade around the museum, you can see ever state flag on display. It’s a great chance for visiting families to locate their state flag.

Take your kids to American History and see how many flags they can count while they’re there. It’ll help them look closer at the exhibits and have fun while at the Museum.

The American History Museum is open 10-5:30 year round. Visit their website for more information.
