Gordon Parks combined documentary photography and studio portrait styles to create a unique blend of authenticity and story. He showed all his subjects the same, whether they were a legendary boxer or simple suburban couple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The portraits of the 1950s reveal a different world. You’ll see honor and dignity pictured in cities rather than degeneracy. Marriage and family were the norm rather than fatherlessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
