We&#8217;re always on the lookout for anything in the gift shops that would be within most people&#8217;s budgets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I personally have always loved the Bradford dollhouse. It&#8217;s bigger than me, and marvelously detailed. What&#8217;s not to love? On yesterday&#8217;s trip to the American History Museum, we were in the gift shop and saw this book on sale:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/whattoseeinwashingtondc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/book-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"America's Doll House book\" class=\"wp-image-177\" width=\"-179\" height=\"-238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/whattoseeinwashingtondc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/book-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/whattoseeinwashingtondc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/book-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The title is <i>America&#8217;s Doll House: The Miniature World of Faith Bradford<\/i>, and it&#8217;s all about the American History&#8217;s doll house display. According to the tag, the regular price was $24.95, but it was marked down to $7.99. The blurb inside the front cover says that when the maker of the doll house, Faith Bradford, donated the doll house to the Smithsonian, wrote a lengthy manuscript about the house, the furniture, the fabrics, and even the personalities of the dolls who lived there! The manuscript even included a scrapbook of fabric swatches and photographs. The book is a combination of that manuscript and other notes about the house, written by William L. Bird.
