It clogs the place up. Full parking lots, long lines, and winter weather stole some of the fun from the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So this year, we bought a membership. We hope to visit several times to get to know George Washington and Mount Vernon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Will the membership be worth it?<\/li><li>How often will we go?<\/li><li>What will we discover?<\/li><li>How many homeschool field trips will we take?<\/li><li>What will the Christmas decorations be like?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we visited Tuesday we were delighted with the free parking, mansion tour without a wait, and a beautiful first day of summer weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meeting Martha Washington was this visit&#8217;s highlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Martha Washington spoke extemporaneously for 45 minutes about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Her life stories<\/li><li>Visitors frequent questions<\/li><li>George Washington&#8217;s life<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was entertaining, engaging, and educational in ways no digital screen, pamphlet, museum wall text, or memorized script can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re already looking forward to going back.
