Three Top Places To Visit for July 4th

There’s no better place to visit on the celebration of our country’s birth than Washington DC. There are so many artifacts and exhibits here, how do you decide which to visit? Here are our top three picks for your holiday visit to DC.

1. The Declaration of Independence at the National Archives.

This document started the whole thing. Without this, we might never have become the nation we are today. It’s part of the permanent collection at the National Archives and is a must-see on your visit.

2. Thomas Jefferson’s writing desk at the American History Museum.

Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence at this very desk. It’s a portal desk of his own design that he used to draft the most important document in American history. You can view it in the American Democracy exhibit with many other great artifacts.

3. Arlington National Cemetery

Even as we celebrate our country’s birthday, it’s important to remember all those who have given their lives to keep us free. At Arlington, you can walk the gravestones or visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We should never forget the price paid for our country.
