3 Smithsonian Exhibits Star Wars Fans Need to Check Out

If you’re a Star Wars fan, it’s a great time to visit the Smithsonian. They have a vast collection of artifacts, including Star Wars ones, most of which aren’t on display. But right now, you can see three Star Wars items with your very own eyes.

C3-PO Costume

Actor Anthony Daniels wore this costume in Return of the Jedi. See the costume and image with your kids what it must have been like to wear.

Fun Fact: Anthony Daniels is the only person to play C3-PO in all official Star Wars movies and shows.

R2-D2 Costume

You can’t have C3-PO without R2-D2. The two are an inseparable pair, even on display. Enjoy seeing both costumes together before touring the rest of the entertainment exhibition.

Fun Fact: Dwarf actor Kenny Baker piloted this droid from the inside.

X-Wing Fighter

Bonus: Mother Ship Model

This model was used in Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Later, model makers added tiny hidden figures all over the model, including R2-D2. How many hidden figures can your kids find?

Fun Fact: With special effects, the model looked like a real spaceship flying above the ground.
