Maryland Day is officially celebrated on March 25.
Since it falls on a Monday, many sites make it a three-day weekend. Even better, many Maryland museums (that usually charge admission) are free for this one day.
Here are three free places to go with fun activities to commemorate the founding of this colony.
1) Historic Londontown
Close to Annapolis on the banks of the South River. Compact museum with a four-building historical area. Beautiful woodland garden for a 10-minute hike.
Free this Saturday-Monday 10 am – 4 pm.
2) St Mary’s City
Beautiful drive through Amish country to Maryland’s first capital. The extensive site to explore makes it ideal for a day trip.
Free this Saturday 10 am – 4 pm.
3) Riversdale
Close to DC and great for a brief visit with younger kids with short attention spans. Cooking demonstration on Soups and Breads Saturday 12- 3:30 pm.
Free this Sunday from 12 – 3:30 pm.
Maryland was founded as a Christian haven from persecution on March 25, 1634. Get out and explore our shared history.
