3 Exhibits to See in Washington DC Before They’re Gone Forever

DC museums have an ever-rotating assortment of temporary exhibits on view. Many are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to observe art, documents, and artifacts you would otherwise have to travel the world to see.

Here are three can’t-miss exhibits to see before they close soon.

1) Paris 1874: The Impressionist Movement

View the works of impressionists and Salon members in this highly anticipated exhibit. 125 paintings fill the galleries, many of which haven’t been shown together since 1874. Don’t miss Monet’s original impressionistic work- “Impression, Sunrise”- on its first visit to the United States.

2) Sewn in America

For 150 years, forensics has been used to solve crimes. This exhibit showcases many of the methods used across the years, from polygraphs to arsenic tests. It asks the question of how reliable these methods are and whether some of them should still be used today.

Location: National Museum of American History

Open Until: June 2025

Don’t miss these exhibits while they’re on view. Any of them would be a great family field trip in Washington, DC.
