Observing Memorial Day in DC

Visiting Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day is always a good choice.

The traffic, parking, and long walk get in the way some years. But there are smaller National Cemeteries in Alexandria and Annapolis where you can pay your respects and honor those who sacrificed their lives in our nation’s service.

In 1922, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier had its first Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery.
