A long holiday weekend is the perfect time to take your family on a trip to DC. Here are our top three museum and exhibit recommendations to visit during Labor Day.

1) Air and Space Museum
Exhibit Recommendation: World War I: The Birth of Military Aviation
Quentin Roosevelt was shot down July 1, 1918, over the battlefield in France.
He is the only President’s son to be killed in combat and Teddy Roosevelt’s favorite son. Quentin grew up in the White House in the shadow of his famous father. You can find his display next to the Sopwith Camel.
Note: Free passes must be reserved for Air and Space. Same-day passes are released at 8:30 am daily.

2) National Gallery of Art
Exhibit Recommendation: Little Beasts: Art, Wonder, and the Natural World
A beautiful collaboration between NGA and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
Christian naturalists of the 16th and 17th centuries cataloged, named, and illustrated the small insects and beasts of this world. It’s a stunning time capsule of Christendom’s exploration and art. Your kids can also try their hand at sketching an insect with the free sketchbooks and pencils in the exhibit.

3) Museum of the Bible
Exhibit Recommendation: The Megiddo Mosaic
The Megiddo Mosaic is on display just off the main lobby at MoTB. You can see it now for free, without needing to pay to see the rest of the museum. It’s ideal for a short visit if you want to be in and out in 20 minutes.
This mosaic is the earliest archaeological find showing that ancient Christians knew and believed in the divinity of Christ (even before the Council of Nicea of 325 AD formalized the view in the Nicene Creed).
